Al Lowe created many games while he worked for Sierra. He created the early adventure games Troll's Tale and Winnie and the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood. He later created the minigame collection Donald Duck's Playground with the AGI engine. He is most well known for the Leisure Suit Larry series. He also created the SCI adventure games Freddy Pharcas: Frontier Pharmacist and Torin's Passage.

He is also a musician, and he used to be a music teacher. He composed the music for Mickey's Space Adventure, which was designed by Roberta Williams. He also composed the theme song for Leisure Suit Larry and wrote the music and sang the theme song for Freddy Pharcas: Frontier Pharmacist.
