The Mohawk engine was developed by Brøderbund starting in the early 1990's with the Windows port of Myst. It then went on to be used in many more Brøderbund games throughout the decade including many educational games such as the Living Books series and the Carmen Sandiego series. Other adventure games such as In the 1st Degree also sprung up. By the end of the decade its use began to decline, but was still used in Riven: The Sequel to Myst and the Masterpiece Edition of Myst.
