Noctropolis is a point-and-click adventure game in which the player controls Peter Grey, a lonely bookstore owner who ends up in the world of his favorite comic book.

The game was originally written for DOS and published by Electronic Arts. It was later re-released by Nightdive Studios for Windows and macOS, and is still available for purchase from them.

Required Data

You will need all the files in these directories:

AUD/
COMDATA/
DARK/
OOPS/
VID/
VID1/
VID2/

For the re-release, most of these directories have been moved into sub-folders of DARK. Either structure is supported.

NOTE: ScummVM 2026.3.0 requires COMDATA to be inside the DARK directory. If you have the original release of the came you can move or copy this folder in there. This is not needed for newer ScummVM releases.

For the demos, you also need all files in:

DEMO/

Re-release Trivia

The game was mostly unchanged for the Nightdive re-release. The most noticeable change is replacement of the EA logo movie with a static Nightdive Studios PNG, and the addition of Nightdive credits to the end. The original Electronic Arts video is still present in the release - if you want to restore that version's intro, remove the NDS.PNG file.

Internally, the re-release used the OpenGL renderer from CALICO Doom, and the MT-32 music was recorded to OGG files to give players the best version of it. To enable this version of the music, set ogg_music=True in the ScummVM configuration.
