SCI Patches

Many SCI games suffered from bugs, either related to speed, or odd behavior. There are numerous patches, both official and unofficial, which fix these bugs. Some of these patches also offer functionality not present in the games originally, like support for General MIDI

The known ones are:

  • Sierra help, offering both official and unofficial patches almost all of the Sierra SCI games (please note that unofficial patches are not recommended, when playing using ScummVM. ScummVM fixes most issues on-the-fly and those patches may even cause issues/may not work properly in ScummVM)
  • Music related utilities and patches from Quest Studios, including the official Sierra patch that offers after-market support for General MIDI in several games
  • Updates to run SCI3 based games on XP/Vista from squirtthecat.com
