The SLUDGE Engine was created in 2003 by Tim Furnish, and later maintained by Rikard Peterson and Tobias Hansen. It is a set of software tools and a runtime interpreter (game engine) primarily designed for creating and running graphical adventure games. The full engine and tools are open-source under the terms of the LGPL.

This engine is being added by the GSoC student yinsimei to ScummVM as part of the GSoC 2017.
