Sam & Max Hit the Road was the ninth game to use the SCUMM scripting language. The game first follows the crime fighting duo, a dog named Sam and a lagomorph named Max, as they recover a bigfoot who was stolen from a carnival. Later, the game follows the characters as they uncover an ancient spell to restore the Earth to it's original state.
The CD versions were so-called "talkie versions" and included speech for each of the lines of text said by the characters in the game.
