The Nintendo DS version of ScummVM allows most of the games supported by other versions of ScummVM to run on the Nintendo DS handheld console. As the software is not official or supported by Nintendo, a 'homebrew' device must be used to load ScummVM. Some of the more popular devices are the R4DS and the M3 DS Real.
Using one of these devices, ScummVM DS can run most games at full speed complete with speech, music, and touch screen controls. MP3 compression can be used for talkie games, and ADPCM compression can be used for CD audio.
The ScummVM DS homepage at http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com contains full instructions for this port, as well as the readme_ds.txt file included in ScummVM DS download.
Installation
To run ScummVM on your DS you will need an unofficial card reader. Once you have one working you just have to download the ScummVM package for Nintendo DS on the download page, unzip it, and copy the files on your MicroSD card using your PC card reader.
To decrease the memory usage ScummVM for Nintendo DS has been split into several builds. Depending on the game you want to play you will have to select the correct build. Even so, some of the games cannot be run on a Nintendo DS because they require too much memory. You can find the list of supported games and which build you need to use for each one in the readme_ds.txt file present in the ScummVM Nintendo DS package. This information is also available on the Nintendo DS page.
You can find more informations on how to get ScummVM to work on a Nintendo DS on http://scummvm.drunkencoders.com/ which is the official website for the ScummVM Nintendo DS port.

Supported Card Readers
All card readers can be used with ScummVM DS as long as they have a working DLDI driver. All newer card readers automatically patch executables with their driver so you don't need to do anything - ScummVM DS will just work without trouble.
If your reader is not one of these, see the DLDI Wiki at http://dldi.drunkencoders.com/index.php?title=Main_Page to download a driver for your card.
