Crusader: No Remorse is an action game developed by Origin Systems and published by Electronic Arts. It was first released in 1995 for MS-DOS, with the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn ports following in 1997. Set in a dystopian future 22nd century, the game centers on The Captain, a special ops officer and supersoldier, who defects from the tyrannical world government, the World Economic Consortium (WEC), and joins the Resistance rebels.
Critically well-received, No Remorse was followed by the PC-only sequel Crusader: No Regret in 1996.
Installation
Required data files
For more information on how ScummVM uses game data files, see the user documentation.
Only the latest (v1.21) DOS data files can currently be used (Playstation and Sega Saturn are not supported). The following folders are needed:
- STATIC folder
- USECODE folder
- SOUND folder (from the CD)
- FLICS folder (from the CD)
GOG version: GOG versions have both updated "installed" files, and a CD image. Copy USECODE and STATIC directories from the installed part you can see inside the GOG game directory. Copy the FLICS and SOUND folders from the CD image part (On MacOS this is called D.iso and can be opened directly. On Windows, it's called game.gog - rename it to game.iso and open it.)
Older versions: If you have an older CD release, apply the 1.21 patch first using DosBox. The patch can be found online eg on the Echo Sector site.
Notes
- Many CDs (including the image in the GOG release) contain older USECODE data which cannot be used directly at the moment. If EUSECODE.FLX is ~420kb instead of ~550kb, it is probably v1.01 and you will need to apply the update first (to v1.21).
- The Japanese version is missing some data files as they were compiled into its EXE. It is not currently supported.
