*1.00
== Image viewer ==
*1.50
For your convenience, I've included a simple image viewer in the PSP port.
*1.51
You can view anything you want while playing a game.
*1.52
There are a few simple rules to follow:
*2.00
*2.01
*2.50
*2.60
*2.70
*2.71
*2.80
*2.81

There are also two unofficial versions:
* Images must be of PNG format. If you have images in another format, many graphics utilities will convert them for you.

*1.50 CF
* Images must be named psp_image1.png, psp_image2.png etc. This is to make sure there's no possible conflict between image files and game files.
*2.71 SE-A

1.5 CF stands for 1.5 Custom Firmware
* Images must be placed in the game directories. When using the image viewer,only the images of the particular game being played will be available for viewing.

== Firmware 1.00 ==
* Don't place any images in the ScummVM directory, or you won't be able to seethe images in the game directories.
Put the single eboot (eboot.pbp) in a folder scummvm-psp on your memory stick in the game folder, which is in the psp folder (so ms0:/psp/game/scummvm-psp/eboot.pbp, where ms0:/ is your memory stick root) then you go into the __SCE__scummvm-psp folder and copy all the files EXCEPT the eboot.pbp into the folder that you placed the single eboot.pbp (so ms0:/psp/game/scummvm-psp/) run from XMB (cross media bar, which is what you see when you turn the PSP on).

== Firmware 1.50/1.50 CF ==
* There's no guarantee that you'll be able to view your image. This is because big images take a lot of memory (more than the size of the image on disk). If there isn't enough memory left to show the image, ScummVM will tell you so. Try to make the image smaller by either shrinking it or reducing the colors to 256 color palette mode.
Copy the folders __SCE__scummvm-psp and %__SCE__scummvm-psp into the game folder in the psp folder on your memory stick (so ms0:/psp/game/%__SCE__scummvm-psp/ and ms0:/psp/game/__SCE__scummvm-psp/). Run from XMB.
1.50 CF can also follow 1.00 instructions, (if you would prefer only having 1 folder).

== Firmware 1.51/1.52/2.80/2.81 ==
== Developer information ==
You cannot play any homebrew on these firmwares (except for TIFF homebrew on 2.80). 1.51 and 1.52, however, can upgrade to 2.0-2.71 to play homebrew.

== Firmware 2.00/2.01/2.50/2.60/2.70/2.71 ==
=== Building from source ===
Follow the instructions for firmware 1.0 until (but not including) the point where you are supposed to run XMB. Don't actually try to run XMB, as it wont work. You now need to download [http://www.noobz.eu eLoader] (0.99 was the latest eloader version when this text was written). Use the exe if you can, but there should be a readme for installation. Once installed go to "photo viewer" then press start when on the folder called "eloader 099" (or something similar). This will load eMenu. Now just locate scummvm-psp and press X. For firmware 2.71, you also have the option to use HenC.
To build ScummVM for PSP you need:

== Firmware 2.71 SE-A ==
* ScummVM source code (svn co https://scummvm.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/scummvm/scummvm/trunk)
Follow instructions for firmware 1.0, except that you place the scummvm-psp folder in the game150 folder rather than the game folder (so ms0:/psp/game150/scummvm-psp/). Now run from XMB.

== Notes ==
* PSP toolchain (svn co svn://svn.pspdev.org/psp/trunk/psptoolchain)
* You can degrade PSP's to 1.50, but degraders can break your PSP. The reason some brick is mainly due to a hardware problem. Some PSP's have a motherboard refered to as TA-082, and any PSP with this motherboard will not allow 1.50 to be run on the PSP, therefore degrading would break the PSP.

= Controls =
* PSPSDK (svn co svn://svn.pspdev.org/psp/trunk/pspsdk)Note: This usually gets installed by the PSP toolchain, so you don't have to do it manually.

= Notes =
* zlib (svn co svn://svn.pspdev.org/psp/trunk/zlib)
* While it's possible to compress certain game resources to reduce their size, this can (and usually will) cause games (especially animation) to be choppy sometimes, as it of course needs extra CPU power to decode these files. As such, it is recommended to play games in their original, uncompressed, form whenever possible.

* Sleep/Suspend mode currently isn't supported, so don't use it when running ScummVM.
* libPNG (svn co svn://svn.pspdev.org/psp/trunk/libpng)

(x) = optional
'''A''': If your version of Monkey Island came on a CD then it has the music as CD Audio tracks. You need to rip those to MP3/Ogg and copy them to the same directory as the game data files for music to work.

'''Q''': <Game XXX> crashes, or <Feature YYY> doesn't work. Can you fix this?
Once you've installed these libraries (read their README.PSP for instructions), create a subdirectory in your ScummVM folder called 'builds/psp'. Then, in this folder, type
'''A''': Possibly.
Because of the large amount of games ScummVM supports we obviously haven't played them all start-to-finish on the PSP, so it's possible there are bugs or issues that we're not aware of.
If everything is installed correctly, ScummVM will inform you as it finds the right components. Finally type
When you encounter such a bug, please use the "Bug Tracker" you find linked on the ScummVM website, and mention all relevant info (i.e. that you're using the PSP version, which ScummVM version it is, if the problem exists in a recent PC SVN version, a detailed description of the problem, and if at all possible a nearby savegame), this will make it much easier for us to reproduce (and hopefully fix) the problem.

 • Don't place any images in the ScummVM directory, or you won't be able to seethe images in the game directories.
 • There's no guarantee that you'll be able to view your image. This is because big images take a lot of memory (more than the size of the image on disk). If there isn't enough memory left to show the image, ScummVM will tell you so. Try to make the image smaller by either shrinking it or reducing the colors to 256 color palette mode.
