SCI Patches
Many SCI games suffered from bugs, either related to speed, or odd behavior. There are numerous patches, both official and unofficial, which fix these bugs. Some of these patches also offer functionality not present in the games originally, like support for General MIDI
The known ones are:
- Sierra help, offering both official and unofficial patches almost all of the Sierra SCI games
- Patches from NewRisingSun/Belzorash
- Patches from Enrico Rolfi for the Gabriel Knight series of games
- Music related utilities and patches from Quest Studios, including the official Sierra patch that offers after-market support for General MIDI in several games
- Patches for Space Quest games from spacequest.net
- Updates to run SCI3 based games on XP/Vista from squirtthecat.com
Patches for the original Sierra interpreters (most of them are not needed for ScummVM):
- Sierra General MIDI Driver w/ SFX support
- Ravi's GM sound drivers for SCI0 and SCI1 Sierra games
- Martin Kiewitz' patch for Sierra's Sound Blaster drivers which fixes the dreaded "Unable to initialize audio hardware" message
