Crusader: No Remorse is an action game developed by Origin Systems and published by Electronic Arts. It was first released in 1995 for MS-DOS, with the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn ports following in 1997. Set in a dystopian future 22nd century, the game centers on The Captain, a special ops officer and supersoldier, who defects from the tyrannical world government, the World Economic Consortium (WEC), and joins the Resistance rebels.

Critically well-received, No Remorse was followed by the PC-only sequel Crusader: No Regret in 1996.

Installation

Required data files

For more information on how ScummVM uses game data files, see the user documentation.

Only the DOS version data files can be used (Playstation and Sega Saturn are not supported). The following folders are needed:

  • STATIC folder
  • USECODE folder
  • SOUND folder (from the CD)
  • FLICS folder (from the CD)

GOG version: GOG versions have both "installed" files, and a CD image inside. Take the USECODE and STATIC directories from the installed part you can see inside the GOG game directory, and the FLICS and SOUND folders from the CD image (called D.iso on MacOS, and an iso file named game.gog on Windows)

Notes

  • Some CD images (such as the one which forms part of the GOG version) contain older data which cannot be used directly at the moment. If EUSECODE.FLX is ~420kb instead of ~550kb, it is probably from v1.01 and you will need to find a larger updated version (eg, from v1.21). ScummVM currently needs a copy of the updated USECODE data (the ~550kb version).
  • The Japanese version is missing some data files as they were compiled into its EXE. It is not currently supported.
