Penguin Software was founded in 1978 as MP Software. It became Co-op Software, and then Penguin Software in 1981. It was renamed Polarware in 1986.

They developed Oo-Topos, Transylvania, The Coveted Mirror, The Crimson Crown: Further Adventures in Transylvania, Talisman: Challenging the Sands of Time, and Transylvania III: Vanquish the Night.
