ScummVM was ported to the Atari machines with 68020-60 CPU and FPU in 2006 by KeithS. This port was made possible thanks to the Atari SDL port by Patrice Mandin, which he maintained between 2002 and 2019.
In practice, ScummVM has always required a relatively powerful CPU and a large amount of RAM (68040+ and 64+ MB). However, with the introduction of the FireBee port in 1.8.0, a version for plain 68000 became available as well.

Superseded by Atari Lite and Atari Full ports however when/if there will be enough interest from owners of accelerated STs and/or the TOS clones (Milan, Hades, Raven, Apollo V4SA, ...), an Atari SDL build (basically FireBee with different CPU flags) could be reconsidered.
