How about adding links to the platform pages directly to the compilation instructions? That would get us one step into turning the port specific pages into a primary place to point people to who have questions about the port... Instead of linking to vendor pages, we should link to the relevant platform pages below. The vendor links still are potentiall useful, though, so maybe add them to the respective platform pages?
