How about adding links to the platform pages directly to the compilation instructions? That would get us one step into turning the port specific pages into a primary place to point people to who have questions about the port... Fingolfin 12:15, 2 January 2008 (CET)

Instead of linking to vendor pages, we should link to the relevant platform pages below. The vendor links still are potentiall useful, though, so maybe add them to the respective platform pages? Also, maybe extend the platform pages to link to the Wikipedia entry for the platform? Fingolfin 12:18, 2 January 2008 (CET)
:OK, here's my 2p... I think this is what Fingolfin's suggesting, so I'm either (a) clarifying and adding my support, or (b) suggesting something different :-)
:If the compilation instructions are lengthy (e.g. WinCE), they should remain on a separate page and have a link from the platform page. But if the compilation instructions are short, they should merely be a section on the platform page. Vendor links should, IMHO, also go on the platform pages. This page can remain with links to platform page and compilation instructions (if different), but mainly really for legacy reasons. The platform page should be the only place people have to look for all the info they need on a particular port. - Spookypeanut 22:06, 7 January 2008 (CET)

If the compilation instructions are lengthy (e.g.
