About
Status
The Tinsel engine is a scripting engine developed by Perfect 10 Productions/Teeny Weeny Games for their point and click adventure games, based on the Discworld novels authored by Terry Pratchett.
The rights situation has been resolved, and Terry Pratchett and his agent Colin Smythe have approved the source release and future freeware re-issuing of the game.

We are currently awaiting news on the engine source code.
TODO: Expand/correct explanation about Tinsel / Glitter

The last update (23rd March 2005) suggests there will be more definite action by Mid April.
Status
* Discworld is completable
* Discworld II: Missing Presumed...!? is completable
* Discworld Noir is unsupported

Resources
* Tinsel Bugs: List of bugs that occured in the original versions
* Tinsel TODO
* List of Objects
* List of Scenes

In short, we have all the approval needed to move forward with supporting the game and making Discworld freeware. However Discworld is NOT freeware at the moment. It may be in the future, assuming all goes according to plan.
Music Enhancement
The ScummVM Music Enhancement Project has worked on the music for Discworld, i.e. the first game.
Permission has been given to release this soundtrack.
As of 27 Dec 2007, the full soundtrack is available for download here.

We may not be able to wing a DFSG/OSI compatible license on this one, although I'll surely try.
Possible Future Discworld Freeware Release
In short, we have all the approval needed to move forward with supporting the game and making Discworld freeware.
However, Discworld is _NOT_ freeware at the moment. It may be in the future, assuming all goes according to plan.
When this happens, the project will make a announcement in the usual manner i.e. website news item.

Whether the game datafiles release will have a DFSG/OSI compatible license remains to be determined.
