Viacom is a company that was originally founded as CBS Films in 1952. The division was spun off from CBS in 1971 to form Viacom, due to then-current FCC regulations that prevented television networks from owning syndication companies. The company was split in March 2005, with the majority of the company becoming CBS Corporation, and the remainder retaining the name Viacom.
Viacom merged back with CBS as ViacomCBS in 2019.
In the 1990s, Viacom developed and published video games under the name Viacom New Media. They developed and published the adventure game Beavis and Butt-Head in Virtual Stupidity.
